Case AQ - No rectification required after paying demand tax Posted by - Sweet Aayesha Arora On Page - FRO hello sir. need ur help.. my demand was determined for AY2013-14 as i had not shown my bank intt income and had neither paid the tax on it. After my demand was raised i had rectified my return and also paid my demand amount. but now online it shows that Rectification Rights Transferred to AST sir what does this mean??? what follow up action do i have to make?? thanks Solution - By Amlan Dutta Aayesha , once the demand has been paid , you dont need to rectify the return ...paying the demand itself is sufficient ...if you study the return closely , it is just for availing tax credit for self assessment and advance ...so there is no way you can claim tax credit for demand taxes paid ...so this was not required ....now that you have filed a rectification , and the status says that Rectification Rights Transferred to AST , you are supposed to take your case up with assessing officer so that he can simply close it for you ...he wont do anything much ...just ensure that the demand raised which you have already paid is reflecting in your tax credit statement (form 26 AS)...carry a copy of this tax credit statement as also challn 280 receipt which you got when you paid the demand tax ( though 26 as is more important)...once the demand paid reflects in your tax credit statement , matter is over ( you shouldnt have rectified ...anyways many people do this mistake which is why i made a tut also for this subject ..see it at this link https://youtube/watch?v=NljgGQCQjnY .....but it is nothing serious ...once you go to the assessing officer , he will just close the rectification at his end because yours is not a rectification case but a demand case which you have already paid .) cheers ---amlan ..
