Casein Info and Autism thanks, Ronda Lucero for this! 1 Star Ambassador Tom Crow had a concern come up with a mother of an Autistic Child and the issues with Casein. Casein has a negative affect on Autistic Children and is removed from their diet. The ingredients on the Vi Shape say sodium caseinate so we asked Audrey to specify the difference between Sodium Caseinate and Casein Protein. After sending in questions to Audrey, this is her reply... "This (sodium caseinate) is different than casein protein. There are different components of milk proteins. Casein protein forms a gel or clot in the stomach, and digests slower. Whey protein is a different type of protein than casein, and does not form a gel or clot in the stomach. Casein protein has some pros, and cons…and we chose not to use it for many reasons. We use whey protein which is also derived from milk, but is not caseine protein. In terms of sodium caseinate, it is used for mouth feel in many products, it is derived from milk as well. Casein milk allergy is dose dependent. If there was casein protein in the sodium caseinate, it would be like a grain to a few grains of sand at the most Casein protein is found in many things like deli meats, canned tuna, dairy creamers and chocolate products."
