Caseworker - Unaccompanied Children and Youth (Multiple Positions) St. Andrew’s Refugee Services (StARS) provides education, psychosocial, and legal support to refugees and asylum seekers in Egypt. We are currently recruiting experienced and enthusiastic caseworkers to join our Psychosocial Services team and to increase our assistance to unaccompanied children and youth. Title: UCY Caseworker Reports to: UCY Coordinator Hours: 40 per week, (including five hours break) Sun-Thurs. Longer hours sometimes necessary Start Date: May 1st Salary depends on experience, comparable to local NGO positions with similar responsibilities Apply by April 10th Primary duties and responsibilities: • Assess unaccompanied children and youth (UCY) refugees and asylum seekers for urgent and ongoing needs. Ensure clients are accessing all services they are eligible for. Advocate on client’s behalf for access to services when necessary, including client accompaniment • Conduct regular meetings with clients to evaluate specific needs, overall circumstances, emotional well being, and opportunities for intervention. Establish individual action plans together with the client, regarding their general well being and development, and the development of specific skills for autonomy and local integration • Conduct home visits and other community-based casework and general outreach • Develop and maintain positive relationships with refugee communities and partner service providers to ensure productive referral paths and information sharing • Assist in the development and delivery of group activities appropriate for UCY needs • Collect and record accurate client data. Maintain up-to-date and detailed client info. Assist UCY Program Coordinator and Psychosocial Director in program monitoring, reporting, and program activities • Other duties as assigned Qualifications: • Significant experience working with children and youth refugees and asylum seekers • Academic degree in social work, psychology, or related field. Extensive applicable experience may be considered instead of a degree • Work history demonstrating a commitment to professionalism, effective communication skills, and the ability to work with a multi-cultural team • Fluency in English.
