Casinos, Sullivan & Ulster to benefit the entire Catskill region, I personally have no deal or allegiance to any other entity then the workers, and business’ in these counties. As a property owner in both Sullivan and Ulster, I need to voice my opinion on this job creating economy boosting endeavor. I have been involved in politics most of my life, I would like to first see one Casino in Sullivan, as a communications major out of our own SCCC, boasts of the SCCC Basketball champs, and are the Fisher Film Festival creators of which I am proud to say my son Joseph F. Comando, won the first festival at SCCC, and I believe SCCC is ready to open with new courses in the Hotel, and Casino service industries. I like Concord and Grossinger whichever is first, they tell us, for me, Grossinger I feel is the best business move. It is a fact Better name recognition in the world, second only to Woodstock in name identity. By the way, we will draw from Europe, and Asia, not just New Yorks surrounding area, for the world wants to see Bethel Woods, the home of the 1969 Woodstock Concert, (Orange county doesn’t have this Billion dollar ad asset) Two Casinos in Sullivan is demanded by virtue of their name recognition, this is another reason why there must to be two Casinos in Sullivan, and the second Casino comes in 3 -5 years, for me Concord is number three in name recognition, I sang there in 1970 as a guest, and in 1980 worked as a White House advance staffer at Concord, setting up meetings for Vice President Walter Mondale’s visit of the AFL - CIO, back in the day. The History of Sullivan County demands Two Casinos, but hear me Gaming commission it must be two for Sullivan in the deal signed, and sealed this November when we are supposed to have their decision, but it must be two, the history of this area demands it. The Jewish Alps as I heard them called, visiting Rocky Marciano as a kid while he was training, at Grossinger, growing up in Pine bush in the late 40’s- 50’s, allowed me to see some of the greatest entertainers in the world appearing at Concord, Grossinger, or having Evander Holyfield and Marc Breland, save my wife from a would be mugger,-rapist while she was leaving work and walking to her car alone one day. Then, I would like to see a Casino in Ulster, at the Nevele, at the same time the first Casino in Sullivan opens, then a second in Sullivan, as I previously mentioned, brings the Catskills back alive JOBS in Ulster and Sullivan badly needed, what is good for Sullivan and Ulster County is good for New York State. The two amusement parks one for the little kiddies and one for the adolescents, that are still adolescents like me at age 73, that will still ride a Roll-a-Coaster. The parks I propose will be owned by the three gaming casinos, in a profit sharing arrangement, the infrastructure of the jobs and business market should have a chance to develop outside the hotels as the casinos will. Stopping the growth of slums as was in the early days of Atlantic City spreading the wealth, creating jobs and businesses away from the hotels, and insuring Sullivan Gets Two and Ulster one. Why not Orange County? Orange county is the second fastest growing county in the state of NY. You can be a Cop, Fireman, and work in many other professions in New York City, and keep your Job while living in Orange County, but you, by New York City statute, you cannot live in Sullivan, or Ulster and keep your municipal job. Plus the Air port is in Orange so if Sullivan and Ulster get gaming Orange will still benefit. Casinos in Orange County should be ruled out of the gaming equation for these and more then economic reasons. Economically ORANGE COUNTY WILL BENEFIT UNFAIRLY, with gaming there. While Sullivan who has been perusing gaming for longer than any of the others put together, and has spent the most money to bring gaming to the Catskills, the populous here in support of gaming here are up in arms at Foxwoods move to Orange County. Shame on you for raising the hopes of Sullivan Counties residents, Town of Liberty and Monticello residents a way out of poverty then taking that chance away. Our residents were helping you when voting for Proposition #1, helping you by their opinion, their vote at the polls during the proposition one vote the people in Sullivan voted for this bill on gamming with all the Catskills in mind envisioning the old hotels inspiring local business again, this was heard all over the streets. The prospect of not having the jobs opportunitys that gaming will bring to Sullivan and Ulster is not acceptable, remember, we voted in prop. 1 for helping the most depressed areas of New York State, that’s Sullivan and Ulster, not Orange. Sullivan and Ulster counties need a boost to their economy’s, there need is gaming, and just maybe the earning capability, of these depressed areas will Boom and bring Ulster and Sullivan equal in earning power to Orange. Plus Orange I do not believe is in the Catskills. But is at the foot of the Catskills; However, the application states a Catskills/ Hudson Valley, Orange can legally apply. So let’s work together, and put the greed, and schlock minded dealing in business of owning all the apples in gaming to rest. And let us in Sullivan and Ulster make sure two Casinos to start, Ulster and Sullivan, and another for Sullivan in 3- 5 years with TWO AMUSEMENT PARKS, BE PLACED BETWEEN THE FIRST TWO CASINOS, AS A JOINT PROJECT BETWEEN ULSTER AND SULLIVAN TO HELP BUILD THE INFRASTRUCTURE OF THESE AREAS BETWEEN THE HOTELS NO GAMING AT THE AMUSEMENT PARKS. THIS BRINGS THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER AND CREATES MORE JOBS AND just maybe we can GET THE PEOPLE OFF WELFARE AND BACK ON THE TAX ROLLS.WORKING TOGETHER, THE CATSKILL RESORT INDUSTRY WILL, FLOURISH
