Cassiaofferings But Thou, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory and the lifter of my head Psalm 3:3 Israel is special to the Lord; they are the apple of His eye. They are His chosen people and were His original glory carriers. They were special and set apart not because of their ethnicity, but because God chose them and His favor rested on them mightily. They carried their God to the Gentiles and He accepted them along with the Jews. I know if you are a Christian you experience Gods great love and enjoy His sweet presence in your life.I think we have a special love for the Jewish people because Jesus is a Jew and because we do as our Father does. He loves them and has asked us to pray for them. He loves you so much, but His heart is also, forever, towards His people Israel. He will always be their shield between them and their enemies. Our hearts hurt for the innocent people caught in the cross-fire of this recent uprise. I know we have fellow Christians living in Gaza who are in distress. Does God not hear their prayers, their pleas for life? Yes, He does hear them and His heart is breaking. Evil has triumphed for a time, but only for a time. Men have believed an awful lie and have given themselves over to do evil. The result has been the loss of many innocent lives. This same doctrine of devils is behind the slaughter of Christians throughout Iraq and Syria. They are being forced to renounce their Christian faith or be taxed, uprooted from their homes, and put to the sword. Their churches have been destroyed. We have an enemy the devil who hates our God and because we like the Jewish people represent Him, we are targets for his vile acts. Yet, we have an advocate! Jesus is able to keep all of us in life, in death, in suffering, in persecution and in martyrdom. God is our portion and He is enough! My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge; My savior, Thou does save me from violence. I call upon the Lord who is worthy to be praised and I am saved from my enemies. Psalm 22:3-4 We pray with Israel and our brothers and sisters throughout the world who are suffering persecution. I have hope in the Lord Our soul waits for the Lord. He is our help and our shield Psalm 33:20
