Cast thy burden upon the Lord and He shall sustain thee. – Psalm - TopicsExpress

Cast thy burden upon the Lord and He shall sustain thee. – Psalm 55:22 The word sustain here means that God will give us all that we will ever need, He will always provide exactly enough to take care of our needs. We’ve been talking a lot on bearing each other’s burdens, but today I want to focus on the greatest burden Bearer of all: Jesus. God wants to help us in every step of our Christian walk as we can live our lives in tune with Him. He doesn’t promise that it will be easy, in fact He says just the opposite. In John 16:33b He says, “In the world ye shall have tribulation.” Now that may not sound like He’s bearing our burdens, and if it ended there we might as well give up now, because it would be impossible to handle it on our own; but thankfully the verse goes on to say: “I have overcome the world!” With those 5 words He made it so that we don’t have to struggle with the weight of the burden that’s pulling us down. He promises to have our back no matter what and never let us go. Psalm 68:19 says, “Blessed be the Lord, who DAILY bears our burdens.” (NASB) It wasn’t just a onetime promise and it wasn’t a promise He made lightly either. God knew the struggles we would face as His children and He makes it so that our journey isn’t impossible. “So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many.” - Hebrews 9:28a The reason we still struggle with our burdens, even though God has promised to help us carry them is because we have to accept His help. “Come unto me all you who labor, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28 We have to make the conscious choice to let God help us. When we do “we will find rest for our souls.” For God’s yoke is easy and His burden is light. – Matthew 11:29-30 Choose today not to struggle with carrying the weight of your burdens anymore, you don’t have to. Give them to God to bear, His arms are SO much stronger than ours ever can be. He wants to help us, He will if you choose to let Him. “He shall gather the lambs (His children) with His arms and carry them in His bosom, and He will gently lead us.” – Isaiah 40:11 Let Him help you, and you’ll never go back to carrying your own burdens again.
