“Cast you burden upon the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken" (Psalm 55:22). Many of you know that my truck broke down on the way home from vacation. The Lord so graciously took care of us and we praise Him for His protection. I was on the phone with our church family to ask them to be praying for us when one of them said, " I wonder what God is doing." It was in that moment that I was reminded that we could trust our Heavenly Father to take care of us. The basis of that trust is the loving care God has repeatedly shown us. Peter said, "Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you." You cast your anxiety on Him when you’re able to say, “Lord, it’s difficult. . . I’m having trouble handling this trial, but I’m giving it toYou because I know You care for me.” The word "cast" was used to describe throwing something on something else, such as a blanket over the back of an animal. Take all your anxiety—all the discontent, discouragement, despair, questioning, pain, and suffering that you’re going through—and toss it all onto the Lord. Trade it in for trust in God who really cares about you. Jesus said, "So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith (Matthew 6:30)?
