Casting of the Nostromo EVA suit from the mold I made yesterday - 1:18 scale - ALIEN 79. Mold turned out great! Captured all the detail and reflects clearly in the castinsg that I have pulled today. Casting material - Smooth On Smooth Cast 320. First cast was a junk cast which helps me determine if any additional venting is needed - turns out it needed several. Once completed, the consecutive three castings came out awesome (after a little cleaning of course)! Image you see here shows three castings and the master sculpt for Dallas. The two casts on either side show how the piece looks out of the mold and cleaned. The cast standing next to the master has been manipulated with one of the shoulder armor pieces attached. The castings can easily snap clean at joint locations (attributed to the detail captured in the mold) allowing me to later incorporate joint work from existing figures or revoltech to create articulated copies of the master. This or I can make a static pose for empty suits or the planned Kane Facehugger on gurney version :) #alien #nostromo #spacesuit #moldingandcastingfun #sith_fire30
