Casualty PACIFIC GLORY entering the New Waterway on 17 November 1970. Leading tug: Smits NOORDZEE. Assisting tugs IINDUSBANK, SMITHBANK, BREEDBANK, BRIELSEBANK & AZIE, (all NRS). PACIFIC GLORY had a collision in the night from 23 on 24 OCtober 1970 with the Liberian tanker ALEGRO and got fire on board. This happened off St. Catherines Point. after the fire had been extinghuised the PACIFIC GLORY was towed to the lee side of the Isle of Wight and her cargo was transferred into the Shell tanker HALIA. It was a perfect operation carried out by Smit Salvage. Yep, those were the days my frends! :)
