Cat & Cauldron winter upcyle plans - skip if you were expecting Cat pics. Somehow or other, over a period of time, Cat & Cauldron has become a fairly serious book shop, but our online profile here and the website have not, to date, really reflected that, any more than the windows have. That is all about to change. Williams will probably kill me, but I have just scored an IMPOSSIBLY cheap full sized Victorian Apothecary display cabinet for the shop, which will absolutely FORCE me to make the layout changes Ive been putting off for a year or more now. More books on display, more in the windows to make it more obvious that is what we HAVE, and a complete revamp of all the display cabinets, with much more stock up at eye level rather than on the floor. Phase II will be the restoration of the Art Galley (no - not a typo) - in the narrow corridor space currently filled with our herbs - which just do not need to be taking up valuable selling space..... Phase III (which will occur in parallel), will be be website work : getting the books on an automated list, and a general update of the stock database to reflect current stock availability, and add multiple currencies. All of this will be done without closing the store for more than a day at a time - so not disruptive unless you want to come in and watch me swearing while I try to lug glass cabinets around without breaking them..... With such eclectic and diverse stock, it is probably never going to be anything other than Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe now, but theres not a lot wrong with that. We just want to step it up a notch!..... .....
