Catching up! Day 22~~ Today I am thankful for my oldest son, Kem, who has always been my Mr. Sunshine. He is 29 years old and he has been a joy to me from the day I knew I was pregnant! When he was born, we had no idea if he would be a boy or girl and I was so thrilled with him. We loved the name Kem for a boy and decided to spell it the way it is so that hopefully it might set him apart as a male when just looking at his name…sometimes it worked and then other times people feel the need to ‘correct’ the spelling.. Kem was such a happy baby! Once when I came home from work at 7 am, he met me at the kitchen door and was just jumping up and down and laughing when he saw me-he was about 18 months old. And he has always had such a great sense of humor…..the day before he turned 7, he walked up to me and said “this stinks” and I said “what?”, “tomorrow I’ll be 7 and I’m still short!” When he worked at Market Basket, he used to tell people that his name was “Em, with a silent K”! And he was instrumental in me meeting David and he was convinced that David used to come over to see him and not me! He has NEVER had a self-esteem problem! ;) He has grown into an amazing man! He is the hardest worker that I know (he kept his first job for over 5 years and now owns his own company in Austin and employees several people), he loves his family-he has a wife, and son now- and he loves his mommy & brothers and makes sure that we know that. He has a very special relationship with David, and I am so thankful for that. I can’t count the times he has called David for advice and I see so much in him that I know he learned from having a father who just loves him. Kem and I spent several years as a single mom & son and that close relationship that we developed is one I will always treasure. He is my first born, my sunshine, and I am so thankful to be his mom!
