Catherina Carter comments; there is only ever linemen mentioned in the media when shit really hits the fan......most people think the power goes on like magic....they never think about the linesmen who have to leave their families and go and deal with things like this......and then theres the people whos power is out and all they do is moan about the power being out and how they cant watch tv or cook dinner or whatever it was they were doing, nevermind the linemen who has to miss out on dinner with his family....people dont think of the lineys....they are the unmentioned heros who leave their families and sort out the lines so that the rest of us can get on with our lives....people think that once a car has hit a power pole and brought lines down that its a 5 minute fix it job they dont realise that lineys have to go out to the site assess the problem (sometimes thats a 45 minute to an hour drive)then call for back up which is sometimes at least another hour and another liney or 2 or sometimes more that have to leave their families....those extra lineys need to bring another truck or 2 not to mention the other pole plus because its on a state highway they need to ring traffic management who could be another hour or 2 away.....if the liney in this case was rung at say 5:30pm he would be lucky to be home before midnight....and not to mention the paper work the poor sod would have to deal with today if he wasnt on stand down....as I said before LINEYS ARE THE UNMENTIONED HEROS....
