Preaching to them, Paul tells them that he knows only Christ and Christs salvific redemption achieved through the cross; it is not a persuasive discourse of the wise. His preaching is done, not knowing what the outcome would be. The Greek wisdom and Christian message of salvation are, accordingly, antithetical to each other. But, what matters to Paul, is to do what he can so that the power of God may take over and act. In fact, Gods power acts only in and through the weakness of humans.
