Catholic Mass Readings of the Day! THURSDAY 22nd January 2015 ~ 2nd Week Of Ordinary Time St Vincent, deacon, martyr (O) Hebrews 7:25-8:6 (Christ, heavenly high priest) Psalms 39:7-10,17 (Here am I) Mark 3:7-12 YOU ARE GOD’S SON! Today’s Gospel reveals Jesus’ balanced attitude towards withdrawal and involvement: Four points are to be noted here. HEALTHY WITHDRAWAL: Jesus’ withdrawal was a healthy one. Jesus withdraws from the crowd and spends time in solitude in order to prepare himself for a better involvement in people’s lives. SENSITIVITY: His sensitivity is reflected in the fact that he stays with the people when they need him. RESPONSIBILITY: His ability to respond to the crowd’s need is seen in his request to the disciples to keep a boat ready (a symbol of fellowship.) COMPASSION: Jesus’ act of curing the sick and his command to the evil spirit to be silent reflect his compassion for the wounded humanity. How balanced am I in my withdrawal from and in my involvement in the life of my people? How Sensitive and Compassionate am I in my dealing with them? ~ Reflection on the Holy Gospel According to Mark: 3:7-12 Lord Jesus Christ, you are the Son of God and the Savior of the world. Inflame my heart with a burning love for you and with an expectant faith in your saving power. Set me free from all that hinders me from drawing closer to you. youtu.be/FO_1Hai8NTg…
