Caught Peter Mandelson on Andrew Marr this morning, asserting that Labour needed to capture the centre ground in the run-up to the general election. Its pretty clear that the poisonous little toad still doesnt get it: that NuLabours protracted exercises in triangulation, which were a core part of their claims to centrism, were little more than a colossal shift to the political right that was instrumental in setting British politics along its current, utterly cancerous path. By abandoning social democracy and so unashamedly embracing the Thatcherite Consensus, NuLabour comprehensively delivered both its traditional supporters and the middle classes to naked, predatory capitalism, and made an economic and financial meltdown on the lines of that of 2007-present inevitable. I would humbly suggest that if the likes of Mandy, and all the other Blairite scumbags, are wondering why its proving virtually impossible to generate anything approaching popular enthusiasm for Labour in 2014 then they take a long, hard look in the mirror.
