Caught a preview of Heathers - The Musical at New World Stages and I had a great time. Funny, surprising, nasty, and delightfully weird. Also, its a Real Musical! Like, the songs are funny and unexpected and move the plot and the characters forward and they RHYME! The songs actually RHYME! You know, like in a MUSICAL! The cast is so wonderful and it was a particular thrill to see the great Molly Hager doing some intense, kickass lunch tray dancing. (Clearly, I havent been exploiting her talents correctly.) Very refreshing to see a new musical that has something to say and says it well and with some teeth and guts and heart. Cant wait to see how it develops throughout previews and all that. If youve got the clams, you should check it out.
