Caught one of the new leaf suckers in action today! It just arrived and they are checking it out in different neighborhoods to see how it works. If you see it coming and can move your cars off the curb, that is helpful if possible. It is definitely a SMV (slow moving vehicle), so approach slowly from behind, and do the same when passing it. So far, Jerry Mullins (Dept. Head), who was testing it this AM, says its awesome - what would take five guys to do in three days took one guy about six hours yesterday. It is driven with the citys mowing tractor. When the hopper is full, it is taken out and dumped at the Dye Mill facility. Just remember: - Rake your leaves out one foot from the curb, and - NO OTHER YARD WASTE OR STICKS/BRANCHES/TWIGS. Lets not break this new EXPENSIVE machine!! The city is still waiting on another vehicle to be delivered that will also suck up leaves, but it is a re-outfitted sweeper (the citys old one).
