Causing Trouble for the sake of Trouble We all know people who keep things stirred up just to see what will happen. It never fails that there are those who will argue the point just for the sake of arguing. They do this to the point that they threaten their own future by claiming that there may not be a God. There is no doubt that you have come across the atheist or agnostic in their travels. The atheist is convinced that God does not exist. The agnostic is someone who neither believes nor disbelieves in the existence of a God. Although I respect these beliefs, I don’t understand them. I do not comprehend how someone can question the existence of our God. Just one look around at the landscape proclaims the existence of a God who is loving and compassionate. Paul encourages the Romans to avoid these people because they can “deceive the hearts of the simple.” “Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.” Romans 16:17-18(NKJV) God wants us to love one another, to care for one another. But when doing so poisons our minds and sways our hearts, we are allowing the world to take hold. I could give you many examples of how the enemy uses “smooth words and flattering speech,” but you heard all of that already. You know who and what I’m talking about when I mention that there are those who would argue the mere existence of our God. As Christians, we are called to love, called to have relationships with those who may not see things the way we see them. But when they refuse to see things our way, and continue to spew evil, we need to walk away. We do not need to allow our souls to be poisoned by their lack of belief. Brainwashing can be a very powerful weapon for evil. Satan does not hold anything back, and will try very hard to convince us using people who are willing participants. We just need to face these people head on, not giving them any ground. When we find that we are not making any progress, then we move on to those who are searching for our message of hope. “in the world, not of the world”
