Cavan Public Participation Network (CPPN)- Some Actions & Achievements in 2014 Most of you usually receive emails from me in regard to our affiliated organisations’ events and news. As we come to the end of the year I’d like to share with you some of the actions and achievements we have been working at behind the scenes. We would love to do more but with only 1 worker we have a limited capacity but we do try to support community as much as possible. I would like to thank all who supported and worked in partnership with Cavan Public Participation Network (formerly Cavan Community Forum) this year and I would enthuse all of you to continue sending in your news for dissemination to all our 598 registered groups and other email friends out there. Kind Regards Daniel Actions & Achievements in 2014 Worked with Cavan County Council Social Inclusion Unit in developing a “Respecting Diversity” DVD resource. Supported the establishment of Cavan Town Men’s Shed. Continuation of Cavan Community Radio via an online format. Plays of shows since the online version began in mid 2013 at 18,973 in multiple countries as of Nov. 2014. Rolled out 9 Community Garden developments with Cavan Peace Partnership across the county with 129 attending. Completed 3 Community Solutions Workshops with 92 in attendance. Publication of 3 Forum News editions reaching over 500 groups each. Publication of 1 Peace Workshop Newsletter editions of which reached our affiliated groups. Worked with Cavan County Council in devising an Outdoor Bowls Green project. Supported the Congolese Refugee Integration Program with Breffni Integrated and Cavan County Council Social Inclusion Unit. Establishment of Public Participation Network via extensive public advertisement, 3 Sectoral and 3 Municipal District elections with further elections to assist in the establishment of the Local Community Development Committee. 4 outreach events to support local groups such as Belturbet Festival Brainstorming, Kingscourt Grand Designs Consultations, Fairgreen Rejuvenation and others. 4 Cavan Environmental Network Meetings. Community Public Roadshow at The Virginia Agricultural Show involving 18 community groups. Community Information Stand at A Taste of Cavan weekend event. 38 “Some Community Notes” e-zines to community groups and the public. Support of consultations for Local Economic and Community Plan. Support and upskilling of 4 long term unemployed persons with Breffni Integrated via The Tus Program. Taking on of 3 students for work experience (2nd & 3rd level). Attaining of Job Shadow Host company award 2014 from Irish Association of Supported Employment for support of participant placements from Rehab Care. Hosting of 4 Community Forum Meetings and 2 Public Participation Plenaries with 3 clinics for public engagement on topics of Environment, Social Inclusion and Community/Voluntary. Delivery of representative and officer roles training to community leaders and representatives from 16 community groups.
