Cecile Kiley Keegan Kiley update: todays sister was not my flavour of the month. She starts by telling us hes restless and he DOES NOT react and something is wrong. So I said, Well thats strange - when hes awake and his dad asks him to squeeze his hand he does. What do you call him? She just looked at me. Eventually I hear its Mister Keelay. We come back in the afternoon - hes very restless but holding our hands and eventually I got to sing to him for 20 minutes. He seemed peaceful. To cut a long story short I spoke with the physician who seemed to forget his bedside manners somewhere along the day. I get told hes off the ventilator (but given assistance if they need to sedate him) and that hes NOT RESPONDING AT ALL. I said thats strange - he responds with us when hes awake enough. I asked if it would offend anyone if I wrote a card asking staff to call him Keegan. He said you can call him trinity, keegan, whatever youd like right now hes not responding. I didnt need that and I dont accept it. Ive left a message for the brain surgeon to ask if squeezing a hand on cue is coincidental, and if having tears in your eyes when you hear your moms voice is coincidental and non-responsive, and if opening your eyes and focusing on the person speaking with you is just fluke. Lets leave brain matters to the experts shall we?! For Petes sake. Anyway. If you can all just not accept this drivel with me Id appreciate it. Now for a smile. The fraulein Id dreaded seeing since last week, is Keegans angel tonight!!! And she said she chose to look after him cause she had such a bad day yesterday with the other man (Tanyas husband) tragically passing last night. She was so soft and so kind and agreed with us that Keegan DOES respond. And I bless her for that. You see. God works miracles and even quirky ones. xx
