Ceeby fka Could Be turned 11 last October. He absolutely loves the new dog park at Lake Shelby in Gulf Shores, Alabama. I didn’t figure him for a water dog, but both he and Wendy love the water. The lake has a sandy bottom. Ceeby was adopted by someone in Naples, Florida who moved to Cincinnati. She dumped Ceeby and Keely – another brindle girl at a kill shelter in Cincinnati. Luckily, someone who used to have a greyhound was at the SPCA and saw the two greyhounds there on December 1, 2009. Because my SPCA contact was out with the flu, I went down the next day and went through the shelter and found the two greyhounds huddled together on a very cold concrete floor with chain chokers. I told the front office lady that I wanted to adopt both dogs. She looked at me and said, “you know greyhounds can be very mean.” My jaw dropped, but I just kept filling out the paperwork. The dogs were brought out and they were VERY eager to jump into my SUV. I had intended to adopt out both dogs, but ended up keeping Ceeby as he reminded me of my first black greyhound, Omyability, the love of my life. A couple months later, a lady called me and said she wanted to foster Ceeby, and during our conversation she told me that she was their prior owner and the one who took them to the SPCA. Well, as you can imagine, that conversation went no where.
