Celebrated my son Jean-Lucs birthday with him today, by getting him a special tour of Buckminster Fullers Dymaxion home, at the Henry Ford Museum. How special? Well, my boss Tim gave the tour. Tim was a fan of Bucky Fullers, had read and researched all he could on the Dymaxion home, and was hired to renovate, restore, and re-assemble the one prototype that was built, and install it on display at The Henry Ford. Tim may well be the most knowledgeable person alive when it comes to the Dymaxion home. He showed us so much, so many things we werent aware of, stories about the renovation. The Dymaxion is supported by a single vertical mast, and Tim finished our tour with a bang: he took us underneath the house. We barely fit under the tensioning cables, and once under there, the aluminum floor was inches from our faces, and we could see it flex back and forth as visitors walked across it. Amazing.....
