Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964. It is very sad and disturbing to know that the Mormon, LDS church, practiced a God decreed doctrine of institutionalized racism and perpetuated it until 1978. No wonder why Utah was a slave territory. Despite that appalling doctrine and theologic racism written in the Mormon scriptures, courageous people like Dr. Lowry Nelson challenged the racist and white elitist doctrines of the LDS First Presidency in this remarkable exchange of letters. mormonstories.org/other/Lowry_Nelson_1st_Presidency_Exchange.pdf
