Celebrating the Sabbats: This month will be dedicated to Litha ( also known as Midsummer). The traditions and celebrations vary among the different cultures. The European midsummer related traditions are pre-Christian in origin. We will focus more of the neopagan aspect of it and refer to the sabbat as Litha. Litha the Summer Solstice is the season of expansion and it celebrates the arrival of Summer, when the hours of daylight are longest. The Sun is now at the highest point before beginning its slide into darkness. It is also one of the great four festivals of the Pagan Calendar. Litha is usually celebrated on June 21st. Litha is also the midpoint between the ending of the winter and the beginning of the harvest. Traditionally this is a time for handfastings, weddings, and communication with the Spirits. I will post ways you can celebrate along with recipes at a later time.
