Celebrating today..... As of this morning, I have completed a streak of 200 days of meditation. After a challenging start to this streak, I would now not be without it. Meditation has helped me to be more mindful, creative, connected to myself and my family, and aware of the world around me. I had always been told that habits form in 21 days. So when I started meditating I got to 21 days and found that I still had to consciously make myself find the time to meditate - and at that point the only reason was to not lose my streak. I have recently come across the term automaticity when listening to Robin Sharma. A study at University College London found that there is actually a 66 day rule of habit installation. And that after 66 days the habit becomes automatic. This was much more like my own experience.... but even then, I was probably more like 120 days before I found that I was actively seeking out my meditation time each day. So if meditation is something youve thought about, or tried, and didnt continue.... I highly recommend trying The 66 Day Rule to install this habit into your life.
