Celebrations with a bitter pill today. Local Government Super has decided that it will sell out of coal fired electricity generation and both coal tar sands mining, due to their high carbon output. A big thank you from us to all those LG Super members who have helped get this positive change. Unfortunately LG Super has, at the same time, opened the door to investments in nuclear energy, potentially replacing one environmentally harmful energy source with another. Their media release suggests that LG Super doesnt think renewable energy can meet baseload energy needs - they ought to take a trip to Europe, where progressive policy means this has been the case for years. Clearly, theres more to do!
