Celestial Vision Outreach Discourse 2: What Celestial Church is not (1) 1.0 The False Notion The word notion refers to an idea or a belief about something as expressed by diverse minds. It explains the position of a thing for proper comprehension and avoidance of misrepresentation. However, notions are also generated to confuse or disrepute certain facts about a thing thereby reduce its value and patronage. Such tendency is further referred to as propaganda. This is the case with certain notions initiated by persons whose motive is to run down Celestial church of Christ. Celestial Church of Christ is a platform for the gathering of persons chosen by God for a pre determined purpose. In reality, those not called to the platform have found their way in carrying out tasks other than those spelt out for the church. This fact implies that Celestial church is a platform hosting complex people (multitudes) in white garment as Celestial church congregation. Outside the church, there is the impression that that anyone clad in white garment is from Celestial church and as such a celestial. Once you are robed in white garment, you are seen as a celestial, and by extension an agent of satan (demonic person). This is what Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries beliefs and spread within and beyond their fold. – “Sound the Battle Cry volumes 3 numbers 48 of 2003”. The Redeemed Christian church of God equally shares and spread this error for the purpose of painting a wrong picture of Celestial church, in order to pull it down. They go as far as instituting a course in their Bible College on the subject titled ‘Modern cult’ through which they inculcate the false notion in their workers and members. The notion that anyone clad in white garment is of Celestial church extract, and as such demonic is a fallacy of generalization rested on the premise that whatever is white garment is an extension of the kingdom and operations of the devil on earth. This report and make – belief theory of the sponsors find root in their capacity and capability to invest huge resources in public campaign using the power of the media as a veritable channel of propaganda. Beyond the use of the media, colleges and training centers are set up with courses, designed specifically for the purpose of harmonizing their erroneous thoughts and impressing it on innocent and ignorant souls within their fold via coercion. They have found the pulpit as a better avenue of reaching out with falsehood about other denominations. Their preaching, teaching and counseling sessions are spiced with false testimonies about the activities of Celestial church. The influx of some Celestial church congregation, not members, to those denominations with cooked up testimonies help spread false news about the church. It helps them gain quick access to their new church and attract the attention of the church leaders, who ignorantly see them as source of information, rather than as new converts. These are those that refused the offer of salvation in Jesus Christ and godly living presented by Celestial church. Rather, they were soaked in frivolities and worldliness, only for them to exit with fictitious testimonies. 2.0 Conclusion Sincerely, it would have not been directly or indirectly possible for these notions to germinate talk less of bear fruits, if we had approached the kingdom project assigned to Celestial church with the understanding and diligence it deserved. The unchecked nefarious, ritualistic, and unwholesome activities of some who are part of the Celestial church congregation paved way for this notion to thrive.
