Cell service for Verizon and AT&T customers continues to be unavailable. Readers who have been able to talk with their service providers tell us the providers are working on putting up a temporary tower to restore service, possibly by tomorrow. Right now, it appears the fire in Rancho Cucamonga may be connected to the outage, although the Forest Service, which is in charge of the firefighting, is not aware of it. There are Internet rumors that a fire in Rancho Mirage caused the outage, but the city fire marshals office says there was no fire there. Verizon and AT&T have not returned our requests for comments. Feel free to use this thread to share information — or just vent!
