Censorship is most commonly perceived as done by governments (e.g. in the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, etc.) or (in the United States) by right wing Christian fundamentalists but censorship by publishers who refuse to publish what they fear some readers will object to is an old problem. Much of Freethought literature suffered that fate and while some major publishers would occasionally issue Freethought books, much of it was published by specialists such as the Freethought Press, Peter Eckler, and especially the Truth Seeker (which was often persecuted and prosecuted. The failure of HarperCollins to include the nation of Israel on maps IS an act of cowardice and they deserve to lose money by pulping copies. If the publisher wishes to gain credibility then the persons responsible for publishing the censored maps will be fired
