Centennial Celebration Kickoff - Media Event Media Invitation – Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County celebrates 100 years of service to our communities CCE Nassau County invites you to our Centennial Year Kickoff event JERICHO, NY, March 19, 2014 - In celebration of our 100 years of serving Nassau County, CCEs leadership team, educators and Board of Directors are inviting members of the media and collaborators to attend our Centennial Kickoff event. This year Cornell Cooperative Extension is celebrating 100 years of serving the population of Nassau County. In May 1914 Congress passed the Smith-Lever Act which established the Cooperative Extension System in the United States. This allowed university based knowledge to be passed down from the Land Grant institutions (in New York it is Cornell University) to the individual counties of the state through a three-way partnership, using USDA funds, State 224 funds and county funding.
