Center for Contemporary Arts Abeline Degrees of Separation Emerging Artists from The University of Texas at Tyler Gallery 3 July 8 - August 28, 2014 This exhibit celebrates the approach and ingenuity of eight emerging artists with ties to East Texas and the University of Texas at Tyler. The works demonstrate the commonalities that come with an education among a similar group of peers and professors during a narrow window of time in a distinctive region of Texas. However, through their personal backgrounds, views, life experiences, and, in some cases, additional education, each artist has also progressed beyond the ties that unify to create their distinct form and content. Through a variety of media, the artists express subtle similarities yet varying forms that allow the viewer an opportunity to experience the degrees of separation among a select group of artists and the greater art community.
