Center of the Week Central Powers, Every Wednesday I want to post about a foe of us entente forces. The idea is for us to better know our enemy and to learn something new. If anyone other than me would like to do one thatd be fine. Just let me know that way we dont have too much CP overload. This week Im still running with enemy forces close to home. New Guinea Polizeitruppe had a better military run than its Samoa counterpart. The force was made up of white German officers (from Germany itself and other German colonies) and native Melanesian troops. On the outbreak of war the New Guinea Polizeitruppe gathered cartloads of reservists and prepared to defend the colony from entente forces. Although the defenders were suppose to save the entire colony the officers had the clear objective to defend the wireless station at Bita Paka. The officers saw that the Polizeitruppe was ill equipped and the added reservists added little overall firepower. Their real hope was the German East Asia Squadron would save them from having to deal with enemy forces. But after battles at Bita Paka and later Toma, the New Guinea Polizeitruppe was forced to surrender. Though they carried out their orders, disabling the wireless station at Bita Paka (keeping it out of British hands) and holding out as long as they could.
