Central America – Mineral Nutritionist/Plant Physiologist Fertilizer Company in Central America is seeking the services of a Mineral Nutritionist/Plant Physiologist with good fundamental training in plant chemistry, physiology and agronomy to support a team of agronomists and sales personal to promote the latest technologies with the aim of increasing sales of fertilizer from 200,000 to 500,000 tons/year. The mission of the company is to service the needs of its clients based on sound and scientifically correct fertilizer recommendations made on the basis of the latest innovations and technologies in the field. The candidate must be able to assist in formulating programs with some support. The candidate will assist in diagnosing the plant factors limiting crop yield in areas where little supporting information is available and formulating remedial measures designed to overcome these limits to production. In addition, the candidate will help design, execute and supervise applied research experiments and related extension activities in cooperation with a team of agronomists already in place. In addition, the candidate will assist in the continuing education and upgrading of the qualifications of the agronomic team as well as the sales personnel responsible for promoting the sales of fertilizers, soil amendments and agro-chemicals. Minimum qualifications include a (1) M.S. degree in Plant Nutrition/Physiology or Soil Fertility with a strong emphasis in plant chemistry from a reputable university, (2) excellent written and oral communication skills (3) fluency in Spanish while highly desirable is not essential but a commitment to learn the language within a reasonable time is required, (4) demonstrated leadership ability for organization and facilitation of programming (4) some experience in tropical agriculture, (5) evidence of success in working with others toward a common goal, (6) outgoing character with a modicum of aggressiveness in getting the job done, (7) some experience in sales or the ability to sell will be a distinct advantage.
