Central BJP asks state unit to remain neutral State BJP unit and all four legislators have been directed to remain absolutely neutral and not to support either groups of the NPF as the ongoing crisis was “an internal matter of the NPF”. Stating this on being contacted over phone Friday, state BJP president Dr. M.Chuba Ao said the directive came from BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav, who is also looking after the party’s political affairs committee. When asked if he would withdraw the joint statement with Dr. T.M. Lotha( MLA) in backing the Kaito group at Sovima, Chuba said since the BJP will remain neutral and not take sides, the earlier statement became infructuous. It may be recalled that after the state BJP president and BJP legislators backed the Kaito group, they were summoned to Delhi for consultations with the BJP national leadership. Chuba also disclosed, that the party legislators would remain in Delhi till such time, the crisis within the NPF was resolved and the party as a DAN partner would back the eventual winner in the NPF. The state BJP president also informed that while the four party legislators would remain in Delhi, he would return to Nagaland as he was required to run the party organisation. The internal rift within the NPF appears to have also caused a rift within the state BJP with conflicting statements emanating from the party functionaries in the past few days. Earlier, the party said it would remain neutral on two occasions but later, backed one of the two rival NPF group.
