C-DAC’s areas of expertise range from R&D work in Foundation Technologies to Product Development, IP Generation, Technology Transfer and Deployment of Solutions in various sectors directly or through partnership model. Primary Thematic or Thrust Areas addressed by C-DAC are: High Performance Computing and Grid Computing; Language Computing & Speech Processing; Computer Science & Software Technologies including Free & Open Source Software; Professional Electronics including VLSI & Embedded Systems; Cyber-Security and Cyber Forensics; Health Informatics; and Education and Training. The R&D Work, resultant products, solutions systems and services are deployed in a variety of sectors in Government, Industry, Enterprises and Public. In addition, Education & Training Programmes focused on high and specialized technical courses and finishing school type modules of relevance to industry. Applications are invited for the posts of Associate Directors* in the Pay Band (PB-4) 37400-67000 with Grade Pay of Rs.8900 plus allowances as per applicable rules (Approximate annual CTC of Rs.16.8 Lakhs + benefits in lieu), to be filled by way of Direct Recruitment/Deputation/ Transfer (absorption) basis. *The initial posting will be as Director (Head of Centres) for a period of 5 years on completion of which the incumbent will be re-designated as Associate Director and will be posted suitably as per the organizational requirements. There are two posts nominally for its centres at Chennai and Hyderabad as Centre Heads. However, the selected candidates should be willing to relocate to any other locations/C-DAC centres in India or abroad, any time and in such event the designation will be altered as per the prevailing norms. Applicants are expected to demonstrate leadership in institution building, mentoring teams to undertake high quality R&D and deliver technologies, IP, products and solutions directly or through Partnership of great value and uniqueness to the target users. Besides, working in conjunction with other centres of C-DAC spread across India and they are expected to strengthen the larger organization to emerge as a cohesive national entity of greater repute in the country and abroad. Tenure of Appointment: The appointment would be against regular vacancies available at C-DAC and could be till the date of superannuation of the incumbents or date of expiry of deputation if applicable, whichever is earlier subject to the provisions of Bye laws and applicable rules. The posting will be as Director for the initial 5 years. However, if need be, in the interest of the organization, the incumbent will be re-designated as Associate Director and posted suitably even during the initial 5 years itself at the discretion of the Appointing Authority. Essential Educational Qualifications & Experience 1st Class B.E./B.Tech./MCA/or equivalent degree in Computer Science/Electronics/Electrical/ Telecommunications or related fields from a recognized University with atleast 16 years of post qualification experience in the relevant area. Or Post-Graduation in Engineering / Technology (e.g. M.E./M.Tech.) in Computer Science / Electronics / Electrical / Telecommunications or related fields from a recognized University with minimum 14 years of post qualification experience in the relevant area. Or 1st Class Post-Graduate degree in Computer Science / Electronics / Electrical / Telecommunications or related fields (e.g. M.Sc IT/M.Sc Electronics) from a recognized University with minimum 16 years of post qualification experience in the relevant area. Or A Doctorate (Ph.D) in Computer Science / Electronics / Electrical / Telecommunications or related fields from a recognized University with minimum 13 years of post qualification experience in the relevant area. For Deputation / Transfer (Absorption) Basis: Persons from Central / State Government / PSUs / Govt.Autonomous bodies holding analogous posts on regular basis or having at least 5 years of regular service in the Pay Band (PB-4) 37400-67000 with minimum Grade Pay of Rs.8700/- as on September 30, 2013 and having essential educational qualifications and experience as specified. Age: Not more than 46 years as on September 30, 2013 (Age relaxation as per Govt. of India norms shall be applicable) i.e. 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 5 years for government employees, and as applicable to ex-service men. Job Requirements: Should have the ability to guide, motivate, harness and lead a group of highly specialized and talented pool of scientific, R&D, technical and administrative personnel towards achievement of institutional goals. Should have the ability to independently manage an organization of high repute and national importance including aspects such as manpower planning, development, budgets, finance and various other organizational aspects. Should possess a broad scientific, R&D and technological vision and ability to keep track of recent trends and emerging developments in the relevant technology field. Should have in-depth exposure and sound knowledge of intellectual property rights and commercial aspects of high-end research. Should have the ability to effectively interface with the Government, academic, R&D and educational institutions and the IT industry. Should have a working experience of minimum 10 years in a senior position in an R&D institution of national repute and experience in the management of R&D projects in hi-tech areas, covering all aspects relating to conceptualization, monitoring and implementation, and so on. Should be a scientist of national repute who will be a recognized authority in the relevant area. Desirable : Ph.D. in relevant area from a recognized University or institution and should be capable of guiding Post graduate / Doctorate degree students in Computer Science / Computer Engineering. Research contributions and published works of national / international repute. High visibility in professional and academic circles and should have been involved and contributed to national and international consultative / advisory committees. Proven track record and experience in leading and delivering significant R&D projects in areas such as VLSI Design, Broadcast & Communications, Control & Instrumentation, Power Electronics, High-performance Networks, Web Technologies, Networking, Computer and Internet Security, Software Technologies, Cyber Forensics, Language Technology etc. Ability to lead, guide and motivate a talented technical team for undertaking high end training and consultancy.
