Centre for IIT, JEE training unveiled KOLKATA: A 6,500-sqft institute was inaugurated at Rajdanga near EM Bypass on Monday to train students for competitive exams for medical and engineering studies. Genesis Eduventure plans to expand this institute to over 10,000 sqft and in the next few years, a state-of-the-art campus will come up with a school, a college, research labs and a library over 100 acres at Rajarhat. West Bengal is perennially found lagging behind when it comes to admission in IITs and top national medical colleges. The new institute plans to tackle this problem by training students from as early as Class VIII through Class XII. It plans to help them crack IIT JEE, NEET (all-India medical examination), WBJEE, and even maths and science Olympiads. Education minister Partha Chatterjee, along with Dilip Sinha, ex-VC of Vishva Bharati, and Atal Chowdhury of Jadavpur Universitys computer science department, were present at the inauguration. A maths magazine was released to mark the occasion. ... When we recruit teachers, theres always a dearth of science faculty. If we need 40,000 we never get more than 25,000. We are weak in certain areas. But its not that students from Bengal dont have it in them. When they go out to other states, they fare well in these entrance exams... said Chatterjee. Dr Purnendu Roy, director of Genesis Eduventure, said, ... After 10 months of research, we have given birth to Eduventure. We are determined to put Bengal back on the education map of India. And we believe a teacher shouldnt be restricted to teaching a class of 100. Why not 10,000? Through webcam and high-speed internet, well take the classroom to even distant places like Midnapore, Mursidabad and Berhampur.
