Certain food and drinks can promote good oral health and hygiene. Typically these have fluoride, calcium and phosphate to enhance mineral deposition in the teeth which increases resistance to tooth decay via acid production of bacteria. Green tea is known to contain polyphenol antioxidant compounds which reduce plaques, gum disease, tooth decay and it also aids in reducing bad breath symptoms. Green tea also contains high amounts of fluoride which strengthen the enamel. Dairy food such as milk and cheese helps in mineralization of the tooth due to high contents of calcium; dairy food stuff is typically low in acid which helps in reduction of wear and tear of the tooth (acidity promotes tooth decay). Cheese contains calcium and phosphate; phosphate helps balance the acidity of the mouth, hence aiding in mineralization, promotes saliva production and aids in reducing bacterial population.
