Certain observations made while on duty today...just to share... I may not be the right person to advise anybody but there are certain things that has tobe followed even by the doctors. Just because we r doctors, we can do anything at hospital or treatment room or ICU is not acceptable. Received a case of suicidal hanging, female 25-30yrs old.pt.was irritable and going for hypoxic ischaemia. She was started IV line, oxygenated. Well and good upto this. There i entered the ICU, shocked to see that two robust males standing by the side of the female, one fellow catching the arms, otherone compressing the thighs. Pt.was stripped up to the waist. Doctor trying to catheterize the patient surrounded by male attenders and visitors, all having their eyes on the stripped female pt. I lost my patience and shouted at the paramedical workers to bring a screen and cover the couch. If this happens to one of the relatives of a paramedical staff, they willbe doing it in a proper manner!(l got annoyed and it remained me of the recent UP incidents which we saw in news channels) l repeatedly instructed youngsters to keep some privacy to catheterize but in vain. Otherthing i observed is in theaters! For any abd.surgery, when we ask to paint, the pt.is stripped fully without covering ext.genitalia.why? First of all we r humans, then doctors. We r having certain responsibilities. Value fellow humans. நோயாளி மயக்கநிலையில் இருந்தாலும் மானம் பெரிது. Just think of a second and do any procedure as if u r doing to yourself. In a pvt.setup, even as a surgeon, i will not be allowed to catheterize a female pt and i will not be allowed to enter OT till catheterization is over. Always give some respect to patients.
