Certainly something that far too many boards dont understand. Due to the fact technology runs everything, and more becomes automated and interconnected every day, it is IMPERATIVE that companies beef up their software development and infrastructure budgets in order to hire top notch developers, not cheap staff to get it done, solid QA teams, and solid security professionals with all the tools they need to deliver solid solutions. Far too many companies see tech a supportive side note, rather than a critical piece of infrastructure. Either that or they skimp on budget and try to rush through software and IT projects. We are entering into an era where hackers are the new armies. Skilled men and women at a desk on the other side of the world can do far more damage and gain far more leverage in a targeted manner than a team of soldiers with guns, or even bombs, in many cases. If companies dont beef up their efforts and give technical staff the tools they need, and departments the budgets they need to hire the best people and not the cheapest people, we will see this slide out of control.
