Certainly, texting while driving is very risky behavior, distracts the driver and can result in accidents, injury or death.. So is eating, disciplining unruly children, playing with a GPS, talking with people in the back seat, applying makeup,and reading (yes, I see this all the time). Im sure every state has laws against distracted or reckless driving. Texting should fall under such laws, and should enable law enforcement to act appropriately. Passing another law specifically to address texting does nothing but make politicians feel good, so they can say look, we did something, and move on to address the next issue.
