Cest le weekend maintenant et je suis tres excited about this. French you ask? Pourquoi? Because I cant speak German and my Flemish is pretty dire but there is LOVE in the air at T Ann Cake and it gives me hope for the world of love and happiness!!! A love story (scroll down if you want the menu - sorry but its all about the love at the moment). A gorgeous young couple came back to us yesterday A WEEK AFTER THEIR WEDDING. Theyre enjoying part of their holiday in Wormit/Dundee because they met at university here and T Ann Cake were seemingly mentioned in their wedding invitations as they used to meet and eat cake here in our first year of opening. They now live in Belgium and visited yesterday for some of his favourite flourless chocolate (bollocky buggers, wed just sold the last bit but there will be more today when they come back). I had a little glow of happiness around me for the rest of the night (for those that saw me, it was happiness and not tequila). So there. How bloody marvellous, non? nein? (Bride is German, groom Belgain). And in cafe news.... soup today is lazy Kirstens Thai sweet potato and coconut. Scrap this. Kirstens not lazy and shes not even making it but instead of making our usual Thai red curry paste, shes chopped all the chilli, ginger, etc etc rather than making it into a paste (horribly mad in there yesterday). Ruths the maker of the soup, scones and bread this morning and its her last day. Shes off to start at her new school to be a primary school teacher - exciting stuff and well miss her lots. SPECIALS TODAY..... Mature cheddar & Guinness rarebit, topped with fresh apple slices & served on our toasted homemade granary bread with our new tomato chutney. Stornoway black pudding ‘piece’, Stornoway black pudding, our caramelised red onions & mature cheddar in a toasted panini served with our Asian coleslaw (carrot, ginger, lime & coriander) Greek beet hummus Khobez flatbread: our beetroot & walnut hummus, topped with thinly mandolined carrot, cucumber, green leaves and feta in a warmed Khobez flatbread. Cakes will include (on the counter at some point this morning...) Victoria sandwich, lemon almond polenta cake, lemon drizzle muffins, flourless chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and more. Have a good, good weekend. Weathers seemingly not bad today, utterly shite tomorrow and not bad on Monday. Music. Has to be all about the love. I LOVE THIS ONE and it makes me smile.
