Cfs early morning update for December showing strong signals for northern blocking High pressure ( indicated by the red colours , darker reds indicate a stronger signal ) to the northwest of the uk . Low pressure ( indicated by the blue colours ) to the southwest , this setup is called northern blocking . Cutting of the jet stream allowing bitterly cold air to reach the uk from the east. Only a possibility at the moment
