Chairman Hurriyat conference Syed Ali Geelani has been invited to attend Pagwash Conference being held in Islamabad Pakistan on 18th & 20th August. SRINAGAR 12-07-13 : Chairman Hurriyat conference Syed Ali Geelani has been invited to attend Pagwash Conference being held in Islamabad Pakistan on 18th & 20th August. On 11th July the formal invitation was received in which Gen secretary has insist Syed Ali Geelani for his participation .Spokesman Ayaz Akbar said that on Friday Syed Ali Geelani was not permitted to offer Friday prayers even in the month of Ramadan and more police reinforcement was deployed at his residence and added that police laid a strict seiz and the visitors subjected to strict enquirers Friday, Spokesman Ayaz Akbar in a statement said that on 18th & 20th August Pugwash Conference is being organised in Islamabad Pakistan in which several dignitaries from both sides are supposed to participate and Syed Ali Geelani has also been invited by the organizers of conference. The organizers have mentioned its aims & objectives and also furnished the details about its performances in past. Spokesman said that although Syed Ali Geelani has received several offers and were invited to attend international conferences, but because of non-availability of travel documents could not participate and added that it was in 1980 when Syed Ali Geelani were allowed to go for Hajj pilgrimage. Spokesman said, though authorities were approached and reminded repeatedly however they remained quiet over the matter and there was no response from Omar Abdullah led administration and added that Regional Passport Office has so far failed to explain the reasons that under what provisions and for what hitch the travel documents are being withheld. Strongly castigating the government policy Spokesman said that on one hand the authorities claim India to be the world’s leading Republic and on the other hand, citizens in Jammu and Kashmir are being deprived of basic civil rights and added that martial law like restrictions and unjustified curbs were being imposed on the political activities of Syed Ali Geelani. Ramadhan is the month of celebration, felicity and jubilance for the Muslim Umah and people through prayers seek more and more blessings from almighty Allah, however Syed Ali Geelani has been confined to his home even in the blessed month. Spokesman said that even in the of month of Ramdhan, Syed Ali Geelani was not allowed to offer Friday prayers and added that more contingent of police forces were deployed outside his residence and all approach roads leading to his residence are being monitored. Referring to recent interview of Omer Abdullah wherein he had said that there are no restrictions against Syed Ali Geelani, and he is free to offer Friday prayers Spokesman while terming the statement a blatant lie, added that it is far from reality and said that Omer Abdullah is scare of international community and while issuing these statements is deceiving media and avoiding accountability for his despotic rule. Spokesman said, during mass uprising in 2010 restrictions were imposed and Syed Ali Geelani was confined to his residence and added that relatively more stringent restrictions have been imposed in 2013 .Ayaz Akbar said that after his arrival from Delhi on 7th March this year ,Syed Ali Geelani is confined in his room and since then it is 19th Friday in a row that he is not being allowed to offer Friday praryrs. Spokesman said that an appeal was moved in High court praying to announce its judgement which was reserved in month of June and added that it is because of this that police has detained the pro-freedom leader without any justification and failed to produce any constitutional or administrative order thereof.
