Chairperson Dukhtaran-e- Millat, Asiya Andrabi on Sunday lashed out at Grand Mufti, Mufti Bashir-ud-din for attending a musical concert organized by Cultural Academy here last weekend. “He should not have attended the concert at first place and at-least he should have left the function as soon as he came to know about the musical show. There is no justification for participating in the function,” Asiya Andrabi told KNS. “This has only lent a support to voices calling him a ‘Government Mufti’ especially when the function was organized by Cultural academy and Doordarshan,” she added. Earlier, addressing a seminar titled —“Khadijah-ul-Kubra Kai Kirdaar Ki Roshni Mai Hum Sae Kya Mutalba”— at a local hotel here, she said that there is a need for reforms in society. The DeM chief also criticized the government for not allowing them to hold the seminar in open any field of government’s choice. “Had it been a musical show, the government would have facilitated the function let alone preventing it,” she added. Asiya also condemned the gang rape of a minor girl in Kishtwar district of Jammu region alleged by VDC members and persons supported by them. “At the face of it, VDC members were meant to protect local people but this act is highly condemnable and we demand stern action against all those involved in the heinous crime.” On the occasion, Halima Baji also threw light on the life of Marium Jameelah, renowned Islamic scholar and writer who died in Lahore Pakistan last year. Shahida and Shaista threw light on the life of Hameeda Kutub and Dr Afiya Sidique respectively. (KNA)
