Challenges always make for an interesting day. A good customer called with a dilemma, a factory built AR type with a severely cross threaded pistol grip bolt that had broken and seized. After 15 or so minutes of looking at it and saying hmmm I got to working. Taking what was left of the bolt down flush, I plunge-milled an undersized hole in the middle of her bolt then proceeded then to drill progressively larger until I was ready for a 1/4x28 tap. Before tapping I had to collapse the remainder of the seized bolt within the hole. Once completed I chased the hole and installed a new grip and bolt...whew!
