Alfred Payne has been promoted from sergeant to lieutenant, and Thomas Camporeale and Joseph Canonica have been promoted from patrolmen to sergeants. • Write-in votes elected 18 people to office in Hunterdon, County Clerk Mary Melfi reported yesterday. Three of the residents were chosen by voters at the polls Nov. 5 to serve in borough positions, with the rest on municipal school boards. WHAT ELSE? • It’s common for the state to pay tuition aid to School Choice districts for students who commit to a Choice school but fail to enroll, according to a state Department of Education spokesman. State officials dont know how many School Choice no-shows it has provided tuition aid for since 2010-11, but the number could be significant.
