Chamber News Feed: Morris County, NJ: COUNTY FREEHOLDER One, three-year seat on the Morris County Board of Freeholders was up for grabs. Both primaries were uncontested, with incumbent Freeholder Hank Lyon seeking the Republican nomination, and Matthew Davis seeking the Democratic nomination. BOONTON TOWN One, two-year alderman seat was up in each of Boonton Towns four wards. In the first ward, incumbent Alderman Daniel J. Carey defeated Daniel Dolce in the Republican primary. Richard J. Corcoran III was unopposed in the Democratic primary. In the second ward, Doris A. Kuhn Yanez and incumbent Alderman Robert Tullock were unopposed in the Republican and Democratic primaries, respectively. In the third ward, incumbent Terry Dunn bested Sharon Crooker in the Republican primary. Scott Andrew Miniter ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. In the fourth ward, incumbent Alderman Anthony Scozzafava and James A. Plaisted were unopposed in the Republican and Democratic primaries. BOONTON TOWNSHIP Incumbent Republican committee members Thomas R. Donadio and Robert A. Rizzo were unopposed in their re-election bid for another three years on the council. There were no Democratic candidates in this primary. BUTLER Mayor Robert W. Alviene, a Republican, ran unopposed in his bid for another four-year term. Incumbent Republican Councilmen Sean McNear and Raymond Verdonik were unopposed in their bids for another three years on the council. There were no Democratic candidates in the primary. CHATHAM BOROUGH Incumbent Republican Councilmen Gerald J. Helfrich and James Lonergan were unopposed in their bids for another three years on the council. There were no Democratic candidates in this primary. CHATHAM TOWNSHIP Four Republicans were seeking two, three-year seats on the township committee —. Karen M. Swartz and Michael J. Kelly bested Katherine R. Abbott and Peter Fico in unofficial tallies for the nomination. CHESTER BOROUGH Janet Hoven, a Republican, ran unopposed for a four-year term as borough mayor. Mayor Robert Davis did not seek re-election. Incumbent Councilmen Timothy Iversen and Gary W. Marshuetz fought off challenges from fellow Republicans Melinda Scotti and Laura Aleshevich Schurter. There were no Democratic candidates in this primary. CHESTER TOWNSHIP Incumbent Republican Councilmen Matthew H. Kass and Daniel J. ODonnell were unopposed in their bids for another three years on the council. There were no Democratic candidates in the primary. DENVILLE There are no governing body races in Denville this year. DOVER Only one seat was in contention this year in each of the towns four wards. Incumbent Democratic Alderman Michael Picciallo ran unopposed in the first ward for another three-year term. In the second ward, incumbent Democratic Alderman Thomas H. MacDonald was unopposed in her bid for another three-year term. In the third ward, incumbent Democratic Alderwoman Carolyn Blackman was unopposed in her bid for another three-year term. In the fourth ward, incumbent Democratic Alderwoman Michelle E. Yzarnotegui was unopposed in her bid for another three-year term. There were no Republican candidates running in any of the towns four wards. EAST HANOVER Two, three-year council seats were in contention in East Hanover this year. Incumbent Councilmen Frank DeMaio Jr. and Michael Martorelli ran unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Vincent Facchino and Bart Lombardo were uncontested in the Republican primary. FLORHAM PARK Charles Malone Jr. came out ahead of incumbent Councilmen Charles A. Germershausen and Gregory J. Kelly in the Republican primary, with the three fighting for the nomination for two seats — leaving Kelly off the council. Democrats Peter Nicholas and John Upton were unopposed in their primary bids. HANOVER Two, three-year council seat were in contention this year. Three Republicans were squaring off over the seats: incumbent Councilmen Robert Brueno and George Frank Coppola bested Howard Olsen. There were no candidates in the Democratic primary. HARDING Republicans Devanshu L. Modi and Christopher M. Yates were running unopposed in this years race for two, three-year committee seats. There were no candidates in the Democratic primary. JEFFERSON Mayor Russell W. Felter, a Republican ran unopposed for another four-year term. Incumbent Republican Councilwoman Deborah (Debi) Merz and Councilman Michael J. Sanchelli were unopposed in seeking another four-year term. There were no candidates in the Democratic primary. KINNELON Republican Mayor Robert W. Collins was unopposed in his bid for another four-year term. Three Republicans were vying for two, three-year council seats: Adam N. Barish and incumbent Councilman Clifford J. Giantonio defeated Thomas L. Kline. There were no candidates in the Democratic primary. LINCOLN PARK Mayor David A. Runfeldt, a Republican, was unopposed in his bid for another four-year term. Daniel W. Moeller successfully grabbed the nomination for one of the three, at-large council seats in contention from a trio of incumbents. Incumbents Robert Cardillo and Ann Thompson will each again have their partys nomination, barring a recount. Louis J. Pepe came in last, according to unofficial results. Each was seeking another four-year term. There were no candidates in the Democratic primary. LONG HILL Republicans Matthew C. Dorsi and incumbent committee member Cornel Schuler Jr. were seeking the two, three-year seats in contention this year. There were no candidates in the Democratic primary. MADISON Two, three-year council seats were up for grabs in this years election. Mark Chiarolanza ran unopposed in the Republican primary, while Robert E. Landrigan and Carmela Vitale were uncontested in the Democratic primary. MENDHAM BOROUGH Mayor Neil J. Henry Jr., a Republican, was unopposed in his bid for another four-year term. Two, three-year council seats were also on the table. John W. Andrews and incumbent Councilman Brad Badal were unopposed in the Republican primary. There were no candidates in the Democratic primary. MENDHAM TOWNSHIP Diana Orban Brown ran unopposed in the Republican primary in her bid for one, three-year council seat. There were no candidates in the Democratic primary. MINE HILL There were no candidate races in Mine Hill this year. MONTVILLE Incumbent committee members Deborah Nielson and James Sandham Jr. were unopposed in the Republican primary in their re-election bids to two, three-year seats. There were no candidates in the Democratic primary. MORRIS PLAINS Mayor Frank J. Druetzler, a Republican, was unopposed in his bid for another four-year term. Republicans Salvatore Cortese and John Doherty were seeking two, three-year seats in the primary. There were no candidates in the Democratic primary. MORRIS TOWNSHIP Two, three-year committee seats were in contention this year. Louise Johnson and incumbent Councilman Daniel Caffrey were unopposed in the Republican primary, while Cathy Wilson and incumbent Councilman Jeff Grayzel were uncontested in the Democratic primary. MORRISTOWN There were no candidate races in Morristown this year. MOUNT ARLINGTON Mount Arlington Mayor Art Ondish beat back a GOP primary challenge for his seat from Councilwoman Nancy Danchuk. Ondish successfully led a council slate comprised of Councilmen Stephen Sadow and Michael Stanzilis against Paula Danchuk, her 19-year-old son Andrew, and Nancy Absalon, securing his fourth term as mayor and another set of three-year terms on the council for Sadow and Stanzilis. MOUNT OLIVE There were no candidate races in Mount Olive this year. MOUNTAIN LAKES Republicans Daniel J. Happer, the current mayor, incumbent Councilman Peter L. Holmberg and William S. Barrett were unopposed in their bids for three, four-year council seats. Incumbent Councilman William J. Albergo, a Republican was also seeking a two-year, unexpired term. There were no candidates in the Democratic primary. NETCONG Incumbent Councilmen Elmer M. Still and John Sylvester Jr. were unopposed in the Republican primary in their re-election bids to two, three-year council seats. There were no candidates in the Democratic primary. PARSIPPANY TROY-HILLS There were no governing body races in Parsippany this year. PEQUANNOCK Incumbent Republicans — Mayor Melissa Florance-Lynch, Councilman Richard Phelan and Deputy Mayor Catherine Winterfield — were unopposed in their re-election bids for three, four-year council seats. There were no candidates in the Democratic primary. RANDOLPH Four incumbent Republican council members were unopposed in the primary: Mark Forstenhausler, Mike Guadagno, Al Napoliello and current Mayor Jim Loveys. There were no candidates in the Democratic primary. RIVERDALE Four Republicans were vying for two, three-year council seats: Bradley Clinton and Vincent L. Pellegrini defeated Dave Desai and William Felegi. There were no candidates in the Democratic primary. ROCKAWAY BOROUGH Republicans Joyce Kanigel and Thomas Mulligan were vying for two, three-year council seats. There were no candidates in the Democratic primary this year. ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP There were no candidate races in Rockaway Township this year. ROXBURY There were no candidate races in Roxbury this year. VICTORY GARDENS In the Democratic primary, Wayne Jacobus and incumbent council member Ismael Lorenzo Sr. bested Joan E. Cegelka for the Democratic nomination for two three-year council seats. The race was close, however, and could be affected by provisional votes or a recount. Democrat James Janone defeated James R. Glass and Valerie A. Williams for the nomination for one two-year unexpired term. There were no candidates in the Republican primary. WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP Republicans Matthew Murello comfortably defeated Ronald Edwards in the race for one three-year committee seat. There were no candidates in the Democratic primary. WHARTON Mayor William J. Chegwidden, a Republican, was unopposed in his re-election bid. The Republican primary for council was also uncontested as Vincent Binkoski and Sandra L.
