Champions League final 2014: a tour of the Cristiano Ronaldo museum in Madeira Ahead of the Champions League final between Real and Atletico Madrid, take a look inside the CR7 Museu in Madeira – the shrine dedicated to the greater glory of Real Madrids Cristiano RonaldoThe CR7 Museum in Madeira contains 150 trophies and medals dating back to Ronaldos childhood. In the souvenir section dominated by the CR7 brand – presided over by his sister, Elma, who also runs a CR7 boutique in Funchal – you can get anything from an embroidered Ronaldo hankie (designed for the man who can’t stop blubbing, presumably) to a plastic CR7 ashtray. Cristiano is more than a footballer now, thinks Mendes. “He is Portugal’s main ambassador, I have no doubt about that. The country has no other brand as popular and important like Ronaldo. The image of the country is reflected in him.” One of the museum’s assistants, who bears a vaguely familiar look, agrees. “All Portuguese people love him now and consider him the best footballer ever,” says Nuno Viveiros, Ronaldo’s older cousin, pointing out the first trophy he ever won – a player of the tournament award when they were teammates for amateur side, Andorinha.
