Change Agents **** I just read a book Change Agents and the Churches of Christ by William Woodson. This book has got my gears turning. Of course, those who propose or endorse any changes to the norm are typically branded LIBERAL. But, is that really the case? Of course, if the justification for such change is fun, entertainment or similar reasons, the Liberal label would likely be accurate. However, what if the justification is to be MORE like the Church described in scripture? Were our hero’s of the restoration movement not change agents? Were they not met with disdain, by the mainstream religions? It is my conviction that we should have the heart of the Bereans in Acts 17. When a contextually accurate study of scripture reveals an inaccurate teaching or misguided practice, are we not obligated to be Change Agents? So, we find ourselves in a paradox. On one hand, we may see changes that need to occur. On the other hand, we are to submit to the Eldership. I would be interested in your thoughts on how to navigate such a dilemma.
