Change is in the Air #gtchat #2ekids #parenting #ghfblogger A number of years ago, a good friend with a strongly 2e child promised me, that based on her experience, the worst is in the early years, but post-puberty, these kids are amazing. Her argument was that we spend so much time with our kids helping them through their meltdowns, labeling their feelings, teaching them coping skills, explaining why other people react how they do, and so on, that these kids gain a sense of compassion much younger than neuro-typical kids. Even if they dont feel compassion, they know how to act as if they do.
